Chemistry association 2017-18
REPORT ON INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF CHEMISTRY ASSOCIATION “Inauguration Of Chemistry Association” followed by one day workshop on “Micro Analysis Of Organic Compounds” took place at 10.30 A.M on August 2, 2017, with chief guest Dr. Jeyavathana Samuel, Head, Department of Chemistry, Anna Adarsh college, Chennai. The other special guests were Dr. Sayi Sathyavathy, Dr. S. Santhi and Mrs. Sobana Premalatha of Anna Adarsh College. The guests were led by our Principal, Dr. A. Anbalagan. The function started with an invocation by the final year B.Sc. students. Ms. G. Vaishnavi, III B.Sc. gave the welcome address. Dr. M. Balasubramanian, Head of the Chemistry Department introduced the Guests and invitees to the academics and audience. Principal, in his presidential address, emphasized the necessity of frequent and updated scientific discussions in the form of workshop or seminars and insisted on the participation of young students. President, Shri. S. Madappa Chettiar, made a touching and simple inaugural address expressing his support for such scientific meetings in future years. Dr. Jeyavathana Samuel, presented a wonderful lecture on Micro analysis of Organic Compounds. She explained through power point that the proposed analysis is pollution free and cost wise much cheaper than the conventional analysis used in our chemical laboratories for undergraduate students. One of the Special guests Dr. S. Santhi, made a remarkable note on the scope of chemistry in various industries. Ms. D. Aarthi, III B.Sc., gave the vote of thanks. Finally, senior students were taken to the laboratory where, Dr. Sayi Sathyavathy, Mrs. Sobana Premalatha, demonstrated the analysis and the students interestingly analysed few organic compounds. The coordinator of the programme Dr. S. Usharani and members of organizing committee Mr. J. Senthil Murugan, Dr. K. Parthipan, Dr. S. Anitha Raj and Dr. P. Selva Kumar were actively involved .
